Responsibilities

Participants will be assigned to a YiM team helping to host international delegations from the five world regions during General Assembly. Main responsibilities will include being a relational guide assisting delegates in navigating the hotel, convention center, and downtown Indianapolis. YiM Team members will journey with delegates through each day. Other responsibilities will include representing YiM relationally, rotations in hosting YiM’s display areas, rotations in hosting an information post for international delegates, capturing 1 minute YiM alumni videos through-out the day on personal mobile devices, and being available to help guide other GA participants when asked.

Application

GM participants are required to complete the same application process as 1-2 month participants. The hope is that this experience is a gate-way for participants to commit to YiM next summer in one of the other USA/Canada locations.

Leadership

These General Missioner YiM teams will be hosted by YiM Coordinator Kenny Wade and local YiMtern Abigail Carter (YiM 2016 alumni and IUPUI student). Each GM team will have a young adult leader (18-25years old) but can include team members that are Juniors and Seniors in High school (11th-12th grade).

Schedule

The daily schedule will follow the GA schedule and also include YiM meetings. General Missioner teams will have planning each morning that will include devotions, mid-day check-in times, and reflection each evening.

June 15 / Travel to Indy & Orientation

June 16-17 / Team building and training

June 18-29 / General Missioner Teams

June 30 / Debriefing

July 1  / Travel home

Outcomes

GM participants will experience cross-cultural friendships as they serve relationally. While missions often include projects and building this opportunity is focused on getting to know people who are guests in the US and ensuring they experience a Christ-centered hospitality in Community and our host Culture. Participants will enjoy teamwork, new friendships, cultural insights, a fast-track into the inner working of Nazarene missions and Compassionate Ministries while hopefully gaining a new perspective on joining the mission of God already in progress.

Fundraising

The $1000.00 covers food, lodging, transport, and training resources from June 15-July 1. Once applicants have completed the YiM application process they will receive a giving link for deposits and donations.

Room & Board

Housing and meals will be covered in GM participants fundraising and arranged by Youth In Mission. GM participants will be staying together in a hotel in Indianapolis.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their own travel details and cost to and from Indianapolis. This is not included in the fundraising amount. Transportation while in Indy is covered.
