PHASE ONE

Why?

-Because young adults need to be discipled and developed as leaders. This is an ongoing daunting challenge for local churches, districts, fields, and the USA/Canada region.

Who?

-Began by intentionally developing the heart of discipleship in the young adult age group reps on our NYI / SDMI / NMI district councils. These young adult elected/appointed positions are built into our polity and can be leveraged to create a young adult summit for the district. Rep’s would be informed (once nominated) that they would have three main responsibilities explained in the next section...

What?

-Pre-election it is understood the young adult age group reps on each council will be responsible as a collaborative team across the councils to plan, host, and lead a young adult summit each year on the district.

1) Vision casting/facilitation of a young adult summit (retreat) on the district with support from an appointed coach.

2) Communication with all district churches and young adult leaders collaborating via google sheets online

3) Participation in a bi-annual training opportunity provided in partnership with the field school (NNU)

How?

-Each district council will be responsible for contributing an agreed upon matching amount (ie-$500) to be the operating budget for the retreat managed by the reps with counsel from the coach.

When?

-TBD by Young Adult District Council Reps (YADCR)

Outcomes

Young Adult representatives will:

- have responsibility on the district councils to engage and recruit other young adults

through the local church for ministry and discipleship...

- assist in communicating events and opportunities for service to local churches

- serve in a strategic role in resourcing local churches to reach young adults in their

 communities

- create a young adult gathering event on the district annually

- point young adults to areas of significant volunteer service on the district and beyond

PHASE TWO

NNU invites all Field young adults to a leadership/discipleship Summit during the Spring NYI Gathering and Fall Call Conference or Youth Worker Summit. Funding for the event will be in partnership with NNU and the respective district councils and led by an appointed director who reports to the Field NYI council and Field Youth Coordinator.

Outcomes

Young adults from each district council will be expected to:

-Participate in training provided in partnership with NNU for leadership discipleship

-Communicating with their district councils & churches about young adult opportunities

-Develop a strategic approach resourcing districts with young adult mission opportunities
